Common Scams to Avoid
Unlicensed minicabs at the airport taxi rank: Drivers without proper Oxford City Council plates approach arrivals claiming to be 'official' taxis. Always use the clearly marked black cabs from the designated taxi queue or pre-book with a licensed Oxford operator like Radio Taxis or 001 Taxis.
Fixed-price 'tourist rates' from airport taxi drivers: Some drivers quote inflated flat fares to central Oxford instead of using the meter, during busy periods. Insist on the meter being used or agree a reasonable fare beforehand - the standard metered journey should be significantly less than £100.
Airport parking 'meet and greet' services: Third-party operators in the car parks may claim to offer cheaper long-term parking with shuttle service, then add hidden fees or move cars to unsecured locations. Use only official Oxford Airport parking or well-reviewed services with clear pricing displayed at the point of booking.
